1. Turn on the power of the hardness tester, rotate the test force conversion handwheel, and select the test force.
  2. The MODEL and NOT-COV menus are displayed on the display. MODEL has two test methods, HV and HK. Press the direction keys to move the Vickers hardness tester to the selection table. Table 1 is suitable for non-ferrous metals, and Table 2 is suitable for ferrous metals. Press ENTER. Press the key to confirm. The conversion table will pop up on the main screen. Press the ENTER key to confirm. The main screen status will display the selected hardness value conversion scale.
  3. Press the direction keys to pop up the DWELL dwell time menu and select the loading time.
  4. Press the direction keys to pop up the FUNCTION menu. Select the first option Single, press the ENTER key to confirm, and the hardness tester starts to enter working status.
  5. Rotate the indenter and objective lens conversion cover so that the 10× objective lens is located directly in front of the subject.
  6. Turn the lifting screw to raise the test bench until the surface of the sample is clearly imaged. If the image observed in the eyepiece of the Vickers hardness tester is blurry, you can turn the front lens of the eyepiece until it is clear.
  7. Rotate the conversion cover so that the indenter is in front of the main body. Press the START key on the panel to start loading, holding and unloading the Vickers hardness tester.
  8. Rotate the conversion cover so that the 10× objective lens is located directly in front of the subject, and observe the indentation image in the eyepiece.
  9. Move the reticle of the eyepiece to gradually move closer. When the inner side of the reticle is infinitely close and the inner side of the two reticle is in a critical state with no light gap, press the CLR key on the panel. At this time, the value of d1 on the main screen is zero.
  10. Move the right handwheel to separate the engraved lines, move the drum on the left side of the eyepiece so that the left engraved line moves to be tangent to the intersection point of the left contour of the indentation, move the inner side of the right engraved line to be tangent to the intersection point of the indentation contour, and press the upper part of the eyepiece Measure button, the measurement of diagonal d1 is completed, turn the eyepiece 90 degrees, measure diagonal d2, press the measurement button, the main screen displays the measured value and the converted hardness value. An experiment is over.
  11. If you think there is an error in the measurement, you can repeat the above procedure and measure again.
